Benzoin Resin Incense



Benzoin Resin Benzoin incense or benzoin resin incense are known for their unique and sweet vanilla-like aroma and fragrance apart from their lots of medicianl properties. Benzoin incense are also called as benzoin resin incense and benzoin gum incense. Benzoin is an aromatic resin, which is procured from the bark of trees belong to the Stryracaceae family. Known also as gum benzoin, luban jawi, Benjamin or Styrax benzoin, this resin is extensively used as an intermediate and fixative in the productionperfumes, incense, and medicine. The benzoin tree is a fast growing tree and is native to the warm tropical climates of the far east. Once the trees are seven to eight years old, the trunks are either slashed or bored to let the grayish sap exude and is later collected after they become hard and brittle. These resins are then processed further to produce benzoin oil or tincture of benzoin.

Benzoin oil has a rich, warm, vanilla-like aroma, which is somewhat woody in nature, and golden brown in color, with a molasses-like viscosity. This essential oil is known to uplift and induce a calming effect on the mind and is an efficacious anti-depressant, relaxant and sedative.

Chemical Composition

Benzoin oil's main chemical components are benzoic, cinnamic acids, benzyl benzoate, benzoic aldehyde, coniferyl benzoate and vanillin (which yield the characteristic vanilla essence).

Medical Properties
